SENIOR HURLERS: The Senior hurlers are scheduled to host Mungret on Friday May 2 at 7.00pm in the City League.

JUNIOR HURLERS: Patrickswell had mixed fortunes in the City League. Against Mungret, we raced into a 1-5 to 0-2 lead within 15 minutes thanks to Andrew Carroll’s goal and points from Josh Carey, Kieran Long, Jonathan McMahon, Dayle McDonagh and Liam Fitzgerald. Mungret were tougher before half-time and Patrickswell reached the interval at 1-8 to 0-6 ahead (Andrew Carroll, Billy Earls and Dayle McDonagh).

Patrickswell were never threatened in the second half and led by 1-13 to 0-8 on 45 minutes (Dayle McDonagh, Kieran Long, Liam Fitzgerald, Andrew Carroll and Calvin Carroll). Patrickswell closed out the victory of 1-17 to 0-10 with late points from Peter Harty, Billy Earls, Kieran Long and Cian Enright.

The home match against Monaleen was decided by our visitors’ ability to hit the net. Monaleen notched a goal within two minutes, but Patrickswell had rallied to 1-3 to 0-3 after 15 minutes (Andrew Carroll 0-2 and Kieran Long). Patrickswell were in touching distance just before half-time after outpointing Monaleen by five points to four (Eoin Harmon 0-2, Andrew Carroll, Liam Fitzgerald and Josh Carey. Unfortunately a cruel blow was struck by Monaleen’s second goal. Patrickswell were 2-7 to 0-8 behind at the break.

At the start of the second half, Patrickswell were stunned by two goals and four points from Monaleen, which eclipsed four points from Liam Fitzgerald 0-2 and Calvin Carroll 0-2. We were adrift by 4-11 to 0-12 with twenty minutes left. Patrickswell struggled to eat into the deficit and still trailed by 4-15 to 0-17 by the 55th minute (Hugh Maher, Liam Fitzgerald 0-3 and Calvin Carroll). Points from Hugh Maher and Peter Harty preceded a penalty from Andrew Carroll that slashed the arrears to five points. However, Monaleen registered two insurance points to win by 4-17 to 1-19. The next match is scheduled for Tuesday April 29 at 7.00pm against Claughaun in Patrickswell.

SENIOR HURLERS: The Senior hurlers secured a late win over Ballybrown in the City Senior League. Due to the wet conditions, good hurling was difficult and the sides were tied at just 0-4 apiece after 20 minutes (Cian Fitzgerald and Patrick Kirby 0-3). While Cian Fitzgerald struck another point, Ballybrown reached half-time at 0-6 to 0-5 ahead.

Patrickswell levelled the score at 0-8 apiece on 40 minutes, thanks to Patrick Kirby, Billy Earls and Mark Carmody. Over the next ten minutes, the rate of scoring ramped up and Patrickswell led by 0-13 to 0-11 (Patrick Kirby, Kevin O’Brien, Thomas O’Brien, Billy Earls and Mark Carmody). With just two minutes left, Patrickswell held a 0-15 to 0-13 lead after Mark Carmody and Patrick Kirby notched points. Patrickswell were stunned when Ballybrown hit the net in the 59th minute, but Patrick Kirby quickly equalised at 0-16 to 1-13. Ballybrown crept ahead once again with a late point and seemed the likely winners, before Mark Carmody’s late goal decided the match as 1-16 to 1-14.

JUNIOR HURLERS: Patrickswell were pipped by hosts Ballybrown in the City League. The first ten minutes were level pegging as Hugh Maher, Dayle McDonagh and Eoin Harmon cancelled out three points from Ballybrown. While Dayle McDonagh scored a goal and Calvin Carroll secured a point, Ballybrown were 1-6 to 1-4 ahead on 20 minutes. The hosts led by 1-9 to 1-6 at the interval.

The sides exchanged three points apiece by the 40th minute (Andrew Carroll 0-2 and Dayle McDonagh). By the 50th minute, Patrickswell narrowed the gap to 1-14 to 1-12 when Andrew Carroll struck two more points and Calvin Carroll added another. Unfortunately the ‘Well came up short to lose 1-16 to 1-15, despite the best efforts of Eoin Harmon 0-2 and Dayle McDonagh. On Tuesday April 22, Patrickswell are scheduled to visit Mungret at 7pm.

SENIOR HURLERS: Patrickswell secured its first City League win of the season after a late revival saw off a spirited Kildimo-Pallaskenry. The opening stages were high-scoring as the teams scored five points apiece in ten minutes (Kevin O’Brien, Andrew Carroll, Dayle McDonagh, Thomas O’Brien and Patrick Kirby). There was an unrelenting scoring pace as both teams adding another four points each by the 20th minute (Thomas O’Brien, Dayle McDonagh and Patrick Kirby 0-2). The scoreline was now 0-9 to 0-9. Patrickswell enjoyed a strong close to the first half and led by 0-14 to 0-11 at the interval thanks to Patrick Kirby 0-3, Dayle McDonagh and Kevin O’Brien.

Kildimo-Pallaskenry shaded the start of the second half and their five points eclipsed Patrickswell’s three points from Kevin O’Brien, Andrew Carroll and Patrick Kirby. The Patrickswell advantage was now a minimal 0-17 to 0-16 after 40 minutes. The ‘Well were shocked by two goals in two minutes and we found ourselves 2-18 to 0-21 behind by 50 minutes (Cian Fitzgerald, Kevin O’Brien and Patrick Kirby 0-2). Thankfully a barrage of six consecutive points from Patrick Kirby 0-4, Dayle McDonagh and Thomas O’Brien re-established control at 0-27 to 2-18 in the final minute. Thanks to fresh points from Calvin Carroll and Josh Carey, Patrickswell reached half-time at 1-6 to 0-7 ahead.

The second half began badly for Patrickswell as the hosts scored two goals and two points to eclipse Liam Fitzgerald’s brace of points. On 36 minutes, St. Patrick’s led by 2-9 to 1-8 and appeared in control. Remarkably, they failed to register a score in the remaining 25 minutes. SENIOR HURLERS: Patrickswell were pipped by Monaleen in the City Senior Hurling League. Monaleen notched three points in the opening two minutes before Patrick Kirby responded with two scores. A key phase of the match was a devastating Monaleen scoring spree of six consecutive points in four minutes. The scoreline after 15 minutes was 0-10 to 0-5 after Patrick Kirby 0-2 and Mark Carmody also chipped in. Patrickswell trimmed the deficit to 0-12 to 0-9 after a quartet of points from the free-scoring Patrick Kirby. Unfortunately Monaleen finished the first half strongly and reached the interval at 0-16 to 0-10 ahead.

The opening ten minutes were edged by Patrickswell, who narrowed the gap to 0-20 to 0-16 (Patrick Kirby 0-3, Evan Fitzgerald,  Cian Fitzgerald and Mark Carmody). By the 51st minute, Patrickswell had moved within two points at 0-22 to 0-20, thanks to Cian Gorman, Mark Carmody, Evan Fitzgerald and Patrick Kirby. Unfortunately, Monaleen matched the ‘Well stride for stride and Patrick Kirby’s trio of frees were cancelled out by our visitors. Monaleen won the fixture by 0-25 to 0-23.

JUNIOR HURLERS: Patrickswell needed resilience to hold off Kildimo-Pallaskenry in the City League. The strong breeze was a major factor in this keenly contested match. With the wind at our back, Gavin Carey scored a goal within 30 seconds and eight points were added without reply (Liam Fitzgerald 0-2, Dayle McDonagh 0-2, Billy Earls 0-2, Calvin Carroll and David Woulfe). Kildimo-Pallaskenry dominated the closing stages of the first half and scored a goal and four points in contrast to Patrickswell’s four points from Calvin Carroll, Billy Earls 0-2 and Liam Fitzgerald. The half-time score was 1-12 to 1-4.

As expected, the breeze worked in Kildimo-Pallaskenry’s favour and they scored a goal and three points in six minutes. Patrickswell were now ahead by just 1-12 to 2-7 and responded in gritty style. Despite the elements, Patrickswell were three points clear on 1-17 to 2-11 after 50 minutes (Calvin Carroll 0-4 and David Woulfe). The final 10 minutes were tense and low-scoring. Calvin Carroll and Liam Fitzgerald ensured a 1-19 to 2-13 victory. The next match is scheduled for Thursday March 27 away to St. Patrick’s at 7.30pm.

SENIOR HURLERS: Patrickswell suffered defeat in the opening City Senior Hurling League fixture away to Na Piarsaigh. However Na Piarsaigh stretched their advantage to 1-9 to 0-4 after 15 minutes, with Patrickswell reliant on Patrick Kirby frees. The remainder of the first half was closer as Patrickswell added five points (Patrick Kirby 0-4 and Evan Fitzgerald) to counter Na Piarsaigh’s five points.
