JUNIOR C FOOTBALLERS: Patrickswell suffered a narrow defeat to Dromcollogher Broadford in the County semi-final. The first half was a torrid experience as we failed to register a score, while our opponents cruised 0-8 to 0-0 ahead.

The second half began positively as Diarmaid Byrnes scored a point and a super goal. Shortly afterwards, Paul O’Brien nailed an excellent two-pointer and followed up with another single point. Patrickswell were now marginally behind at 0-9 to 1-4. The game seemed to slip away when Dromcollogher Broadford notched three consecutive points to lead by 0-12 to 1-4, however Rory Foley scored a point and Eoin Harmon struck an important second goal. Patrickswell trailed by the minimum of 0-12 to 2-5. Unfortunately, there were no further scores and we were eliminated.

UNDER 21 HURLERS: The U21 hurlers secured a priceless win over Adare in the Championship to resurrect our chances of progression. The first half was characterised by a large amount of wides from both teams. Ryan Foley scored two points and Liam Fitzgerald another point to establish a 0-3 to 0-1 lead. Adare dominated the remainder of the first half as their five points eclipsed a Ryan Foley point. The interval score was 0-6 to 0-4 for our neighbours.

The second half began with Adare stretching its lead to 0-11 to 0-5 (our point from Dayle McDonagh). The gap narrowed slightly when Ryan Foley and Liam Fitzgerald trimmed the deficit to 0-12 to 0-7. Patrickswell then experienced a rewarding purple patch that yielded six points without reply. We were now ahead by 0-13 to 0-12, thanks to Liam Fitzgerald 0-3, John Murray, Billy Earls and Dayle McDonagh. Adare equalised twice, as they sandwiched two points around Dayle McDonagh’s point. At 0-14 apiece, the match and the whole campaign hung in the balance. Thankfully Liam Fitzgerald’s late point won the match by 0-15 to 0-14. The final group match with Glenroe is on Saturday November 7 at 2.00pm in Fedamore.
