MINOR HURLERS: Patrickswell made a disappointing start to the championship after a heavy defeat at Hospital Herbertstown. The hosts notched the first two points before Ryan Foley knocked over a free. We fell further behind at 0-4 to 0-1, but fresh points from Ryan Foley and Thomas Lynch closed the gap at 0-4 to 0-3. Hospital Herbertstown scored another goal and point to increase their lead to 1-5 to 0-3. There was a positive response from the ‘Well as Thomas Lynch hit the net and Ryan Foley added a free. On the 25 minute mark, we trailed by a mere 1-5 to 1-4. While Ryan Foley celebrated Patrickswell’s second goal, we conceded four points. Unfortunately, Patrickswell suffered a red card that ultimately changed the match. At half-time, Hospital Herbertstown led by 1-9 to 2-4.

The second half was a gruelling experience. The hosts hit a goal and four points before Callum Butler responded with a free.
