SENIOR HURLERS: Patrickswell experienced our first defeat of the County League after an away defeat to Monaleen. Within ten minutes, we led by 0-4 to 0-2 (John Kirby and Jason Gillane 0-3). The game swung in favour of the hosts as Monaleen secured a goal and four points to eclipse Jason Gillane’s point. Patrickswell were now 1-6 to 0-5 behind. In the approach to half-time, the ‘Well trimmed the deficit to a solitary point at 1-9 to 0-11 (John Kirby 0-2, Evan Fitzgerald and Jason Gillane 0-3). Unfortunately Monaleen snatched a second goal and matched Jason Gillane’s late point. The interval scoreline was 2-10 to 0-12.

Patrickswell surged at the beginning of the second half and equalised at 1-13 to 2-10 with a point from Jason Gillane and a goal from Dayle McDonagh. Monaleen settled into their stride and scored another goal and four more points without reply. At seven points behind, Patrickswell needed a response. It did not materialise and Monaleen went further ahead by 3-19 to 1-15 (Jason Gillane 0-2). The game ended with two consolation points from Jason Gillane. Monaleen won the fixture by 3-22 to 1-17.

JUNIOR FOOTBALLERS: Patrickswell are scheduled to visit Killeedy on Sunday May 10 at 7.30pm in the County League.

INTER-COUNTY HURLERS: Congratulations to Limerick and Diarmaid Byrnes for their resounding victory over Clare in the Munster Hurling Championship.
