JUNIOR HURLERS: The Junior hurlers suffered an away defeat to a strong Ballybricken Bohermore side in the County League. Our opponents surged into a 1-4 to 0-3 lead within ten minutes (Conor Robinson, Liam Fitzgerald and Andrew Carroll) before Patrickswell settled into the match and traded three points apiece (Liam Fitzgerald 0-2 and Andrew Carroll). There were 20 minutes gone and Patrickswell trailed by 1-7 to 0-6. Another barrage of one goal and three points without reply from Ballybricken Bohermore put them in control at 2-10 to 0-6. The first half ended with an exchange of two more points (Liam Fitzgerald and Andrew Carroll). The deficit was ten points, 2-12 to 0-8, and there was much work to do.
The second half began with our hosts extending their lead to fourteen points at 2-18 to 0-10 (Liam Fitzgerald 0-2). Patrickswell struck three straight points from Peter Harty 0-2 and Liam Fitzgerald, but the door was firmly shut by a third Ballybricken Bohermore goal and a fresh point. With 15 minutes left, we trailed by 3-19 to 0-13. Goals from Paudie Maher and Seanie O’Brien in quick succession sparked a revival that reduced the arrears to nine points at 3-19 to 2-13.
