PAUL FOLEY: Congratulations to Paul Foley, who was elected Treasurer of the Munster Council. Paul follows in the footsteps of Limerick men Michael Fitzgerald (Kilmallock) in 2012 and Declan Moylan (Claughaun) in 1998.

Paul is a stalwart of Patrickswell, Limerick, Munster and National gaelic games. At just 15 years of age, he became PRO of our club. On the field, Paul won eight Senior Hurling County Championships with Patrickswell, captaining the side in 1993. He also won two Munster Senior Club Championships and two All-Ireland Sevens titles in an illustrious club career. In addition, Paul represented Limerick at all grades.

Paul’s family history is also steeped in gaelic games tradition. His uncle John O’Donnell was on the first Patrickswell team to win a Senior Championship in 1965 and his uncle Willie Foley was a former President of the club. His parents Paddy and Joan were lifelong supporters of the club, with Joan a member of the team which won the Senior Camogie Championship in 1956.

As an administrator, Paul served on the Limerick County Board for the past ten years as Central Council Delegate and previously as Munster Council Delegate. During his period on the Central Council, Paul was appointed to a number of influential committees – including the GAA Strategy Steering Group and the Central Appeals Committee.

He was subsequently appointed to the National Appointments and National Finance Committees in Croke Park. Paul also participated with former Uachtaran Christy Cooney on the operational review of the GAA’s Ard Comhairle in 2022.

Closer to home, Paul is remembered for his tenure as Chairperson of Patrickswell GAA for four years up to 2013 and he managed the club’s Junior Football team in 2025. He is also a key member of the Patrickswell GAA & Camogie Club’s Development Committee, overseeing the facilities upgrade at Pairc Antóin O’Briain.
