SENIOR HURLERS: Patrickswell suffered late heartbreak in our critical Championship encounter with Adare. Our neighbours scored a goal in the first minute and followed up with a point. The rate of scoring was very low in the first half, but Patrickswell settled with consecutive points from Cian Fitzgerald and Evan Fitzgerald. The next ten minutes were shaded by Adare as they established a 1-4 to 0-4 lead (Diarmaid Byrnes and Jason Gillane). However, Patrickswell dominated the latter stages of the first half as we accrued a penalty goal from Diarmaid Byrnes and points from Diarmaid Byrnes, Aaron Gillane, Jason Gillane and Evan Fitzgerald. The interval scoreline was 1-8 to 1-4 to Patrickswell.

The early stages of the second half were narrowly edged by Adare. Their four points outpaced Patrickswell’s three points (Aaron Gillane 0-2 and Patrick Kirby). Four unanswered points from Adare gave them a narrow 1-12 to 1-11 lead. The pendulum swung back and forth as Patrickswell found ourselves 1-17 to 1-16 ahead with minutes remaining (Aaron Gillane 0-2 and Jason Gillane 0-4). Rory Foley’s late point was invaluable, but Adare had a few minutes left to recover. A long-range shot evaded the Patrickswell defence and rippled the net. Adare were 2-16 to 1-18 ahead, with mere seconds left. A late Patrickswell free was inches wide and our neighbours won out.

JUNIOR C HURLERS: The Junior C hurlers had a mixed week. Following a 1-23 to 3-7 defeat to Crecora, Patrickswell responded with a dramatic 9-9 to 7-12 victory at Dromcollogher-Broadford.

JUNIOR C FOOTBALL: Patrickswell visit Glin on Sunday September 13 at 12.00pm noon.

MINOR HURLERS: Patrickswell beat Garryspillane in a gripping Shield Final at Fedamore. The Bouncers made a good start with two points, but Ryan Foley scored a goal shortly thereafter. Despite points from Ryan Foley and Callum Butler, Garryspillane went 1-7 to 1-2 ahead. Patrickswell dominated the last phase of the first half and equalised by half-time at 1-9 apiece (Ryan Foley 0-3, Callum Butler 0-3 and Rory Foley).

Patrickswell increased its tempo throughout the second half and amassed twelve points to Garryspillane’s five points (Ryan Foley 0-6, Rory Foley 0-5 and Callum Butler). With a seven-point lead of 1-21 to 1-14, we looked strong. However, the Bouncers notched a goal and a point to slash their arrears to three points. Rory Foley and Ryan Foley settled some nerves with a point each, while Ryan Foley’s late goal put the result beyond doubt. Patrickswell lifted the shield with a 2-23 to 2-16 victory.

CAMOGIE: Our Senior Camogie team beat Killeedy in a crucial Championship encounter. The Junior Camogie team lost to Killeedy a few days later.

CLUB LOTTO: The Club Lotto draw on Monday August 31 was not won. The numbers drawn were 1, 2, 12 and 13. The bonus number was 30. The €50 Lucky Dips were won by Seamus Coughlan and Dave Bulfin, while the €20 prizes were claimed by Jacqueline Finucane, Kay Allen, Willie Ryan, Barry Foley, John Adams Junior and Lily McNamara. This week’s jackpot is €13,400.
