SENIOR HURLERS: Patrickswell defeated Garryspillane in our third Championship fixture. The early exchanges were tight as Patrickswell built a 0-4 to 0-3 lead (Aaron Gillane, Evan Fitzgerald 0-2 and Liam Fitzgerald). Patrickswell tightened its grip on the match with four consecutive points, thanks to Aaron Gillane 0-2, Diarmaid Byrnes and Patrick Kirby. The next phase was closer as we shaded our opponents to open a 0-12 to 0-6 lead (Aaron Gillane, Andrew Carroll, Patrick Kirby and John Kirby). Patrickswell surged ahead with two close-range Jason Gillane goals to open a significant twelve-point lead, but the Bouncers replied with a goal and three points without reply. The half-time score was 2-12 to 1-9.
Diarmaid Byrnes and Andrew Carroll increased the lead to seven points at the beginning of the second half, before Garryspillane struck their second goal. Our response was immediate as Patrick Kirby hit the net almost immediately afterwards. Over the next five minutes, our opponents trimmed the deficit to 3-17 to 2-14 (Evan Fitzgerald, Cian Lynch and Aaron Gillane). The clinching moment was Jason Gillane’s hat trick goal. Afterwards, Patrickswell notched another six points to claim an eleven-point win of 4-23 to 2-18 (Kevin O’Brien, Cian Lynch 0-2, Jason Gillane, Diarmaid Byrnes and Patrick Kirby). The next fixture is on Saturday September 5 against Adare in Kilmallock at 5.00pm.
JUNIOR B HURLERS: Patrickswell were comfortable winners over Bruff at Fedamore. Dayle McDonagh and Seanie O’Brien had scored goals within five minutes of throw-in. Around those goals, we scored ten points to build a 2-10 to 1-4 lead by the 25th minute (Dayle McDonagh 0-3, Paudie Maher 0-2, Nigel Foley 0-2, Seanie O’Brien, Paddy Gardiner and Tom O’Brien). Seanie O’Brien scored Patrickswell’s third goal and there were four additional points from Nigel Foley, Tom O’Brien, Seanie O’Brien and Paudie Maher. The interval score was 3-14 to 1-5.
The second half followed a similar trend as Paudie Maher and Thomas O’Brien added the fourth and fifth goal. Twelve points were flagged from Tom O’Brien 0-4, Seanie O’Brien, Peter Harty 0-4, Kieran Long, John Long and Josh Carey. The result was an emphatic 5-26 to 2-9 victory.
JUNIOR C HURLERS: The Junior C hurlers are scheduled to play Crecora in St. Enda’s on Tuesday September 1 at 6.30pm. Following that, we travel to Dromcolligher-Broadford on Sunday September 6 at 1.00pm.
MINOR HURLERS: Patrickswell face Garryspillane in the Shield Final on Wednesday September 2 at 6.00pm in Fedamore.
CAMOGIE: Our Senior Camogie team visit Killeedy on Friday September 4 at 6.30pm for a crucial Championship encounter. The Junior Camogie team are also away to Killeedy on Sunday September 6 at 2.00pm.
CLUB LOTTO: The Club Lotto draw on Monday August 24 was not won. The numbers drawn were 10, 22, 25 and 27. The bonus number was 31.
