MINOR HURLERS: Patrickswell beat South Liberties in an epic Shield semi-final. Our opponents raced into an early three-point lead, but Ryan Foley’s trio of frees trimmed the deficit to 0-4 to 0-3. South Liberties’ opening goal was answered by points from Thomas Lynch and Rory Foley. The Ballyneety men were 1-4 to 0-5 ahead and they increased the margin to 1-7 to 0-6 (Rory Foley). Patrickswell roared into the lead with two close-range goals from Rory Foley and Ryan Foley to establish a scoreline of 2-6 to 1-8. There was a further exchange of two points each (Ryan Foley and Callum Butler) to ensure a minimum half-time score of 2-8 to 1-10.

Rory Foley scored Patrickswell’s third goal at the start of the second half, but South Liberties replied with three unanswered points. Rory Foley’s next point was responded with two points to equalise at 3-9 to 1-15. When Ryan Foley hit the net for our fourth goal, South Liberties responded with a goal and a point. There were ten minutes left and we trailed by 2-16 to 4-9. Another brace of Ryan Foley points were cancelled out. However, Patrickswell finished very strongly and four straight points ensured a 4-15 to 2-18 win.

JUNIOR C FOOTBALLERS: The footballers kept their 100% record with a fine victory over Killeedy. Our hosts had a strong first quarter, which yielded a goal and three points to Patrickswell’s two points from Nigel Foley and Peter Harty. Patrickswell began to take full advantage of the strong breeze and plundered two goals and five points without reply. Our scorers were Paul O’Brien 1-1, Brian Og O’Sullivan 1-0, Francis McAuliffe, Paddy Gardiner and Jason Gillane 0-2. At the interval, we led by 2-7 to 1-3.

The second half was low scoring. Killeedy responded with two points, but the door was slammed shut by a Peter Harty goal and Briain Og O’Sullivan point. Patrickswell were nine points clear and survived a late scare as Killeedy secured a goal and point. The result was a 3-8 to 2-6 win.

CAMOGIE: Our Senior Camogie team lost to Newcastle West, while the Junior Camogie team drew with Adare.
