SENIOR HURLERS: Patrickswell suffered late disappointment at Doon in the County League. The opening ten minutes were finely balanced as Jason Gillane’s three frees were matched by the hosts. Doon crept ahead with three unanswered points, before both sides exchanged two points each (Jason Gillane and John Murray). With five minutes until half-time, Doon led by 0-8 to 0-5. The East Men then struck a goal prior to Jason Gillane hauling back a point. At the interval, Patrickswell trailed by 1-8 to 0-6.

Doon scored the first point of the second half before a resurgent Patrickswell turned the game around. Points from Jason Gillane and John Murray were followed by a rasping Jason Gillane shot into the crowded net. Afterwards, Jason Gillane and Mark Carmody added fresh points to give Patrickswell a 1-10 to 1-9 lead. Doon were able to push ahead after a period where they outscored the ‘Well by four points to two Jason Gillane frees. With ten minutes left, we trailed by 1-13 to 1-12. Dayle McDonagh’s goal pushed Patrickswell into a late lead, but Doon equalised at 2-12 to 1-15. The game was in the balance with minutes remaining. Unfortunately for Patrickswell, Doon produced a late goal to wrap up a 2-15 to 2-12 win. Our next match is on Friday May 22 in Ahane at 7.30pm.
