SENIOR HURLERS: The Senior hurlers opened their league campaign with a fine victory against Kilmallock. The Balbec scored the opening point of the fixture, but Patrickswell roared 1-7 to 0-2 ahead after a purple patch where Jason Gillane notched a goal & three points and there were further points for John Kirby, Evan Fitzgerald, Patrick Kirby and Cian Fitzgerald. Kilmallock composed themselves and retaliated with a goal and three points to Kevin O’Brien’s solitary score. By the 25th minute, Patrickswell were 1-8 to 1-5 ahead. The remainder of the first half saw an exchange of three points apiece (Mark Carmody and Jason Gillane 0-2). The interval score was 1-11 to 1-8.

At the start of the second half, Kilmallock trimmed the deficit to 1-12 to 1-10 (Jason Gillane). Patrickswell embarked on a period of dominance and struck seven points without reply (Liam Fitzgerald 0-2, Jason Gillane 0-2, Patrick Kirby, Kevin O’Brien and Cian Fitzgerald). The ‘Well seemed uncatchable at 1-19 to 1-10. However, the next four points were claimed by Kilmallock. The lead was trimmed to five points when Patrickswell increased their tempo. Patrick Kirby, Jason Gillane and Dayle McDonagh added points which allowed Patrickswell to lead by 1-22 to 1-18 in the final minute. All doubts evaporated once Dayle McDonagh hit the net to earn a 2-22 to 1-18 triumph.

JUNIOR B HURLERS: The Junior B hurlers host Killeedy on Sunday March 29 at 5.00pm in Patrickswell.
