SENIOR HURLERS: The Daly Cup resumes with a key fixture against Ahane on Friday September 13 at 6.00pm in Claughaun. Tickets must be purchased in advance on the Limerick GAA website.
JUNIOR A HURLERS: Patrickswell were comfortable winners over Blackrock in the Championship. The game was effectively over within ten minutes as we struck a remarkable five goals and six points without reply (Gavin Carey 2-1, Seanie O’Brien 1-1, Kieran Long 1-1, Shane Hannon 1-0 and Calvin Carroll 0-3). Blackrock stemmed the onslaught and the scoring rate slowed dramatically before half-time. Patrickswell added five more points (Calvin Carroll 0-3, Billy Earls and Shane Hannon) to cement a 5-11 to 0-3 interval lead.
Blackrock were rewarded for their persistence with a goal and a point at the start of the second half. The recovery spurred a Patrickswell revival as four points were added in seven minutes (Peter Harty, Seanie O’Brien and Calvin Carroll 0-2). By the 50th minute, the ‘Well led by 5-15 to 1-6. The last ten minutes belonged to Patrickswell as Josh Carey notched our sixth goal to supplement five points from Peter Harty, Calvin, Liam Fitzgerald, Billy Earls and Josh himself). The final scoreline was a 6-20 to 1-9 victory.
MINOR HURLERS: The Minor hurlers reached the knockout stages of the Championship with a gritty win over Dromcollogher Broadford. Despite moving three points ahead within seven minutes thanks to Dayle McDonagh and Rory Foley’s brace, there was a lengthy twenty minute wait before Dayle McDonagh struck two more points. The interval score was a paltry 0-5 to 0-1.
Patrickswell started the second half positively. Ryan Foley scored twice and Eoin Hennessy added another point to establish a 0-8 to 0-1 lead by the 35th minute. Dayle McDonagh’s goal was sandwiched between three points from our opponents, so we were 1-8 to 0-4 ahead in the 45th minute and looking comfortable. The final quarter produced another two points from Dayle McDonagh and one point from Ryan Foley. The result was a 1-11 to 0-5 win. On Sunday September 15 at 12.00pm noon in Ballingarry, there is a playoff match.
CLUB LOTTO: The Club Lotto draw on Monday September 2 was not won. The numbers drawn were 8, 11, 12 and 27. The bonus number was 10. The €50 Lucky Dips were won by Lauretta Keyes and Christy O’Reilly, while the €20 prizes were claimed by Cian Hall, Siobhan Collins, Lilly McNamara, Josephine Kilcoyne, John Fitzgerald and Dara Murray. This week’s jackpot is €13,800.
