UNDER 21 HURLERS: Patrickswell suffered defeat in their third match of the Championship against Monaleen. The ‘Well had a torrid start and found themselves a goal and five points down within eight minutes. Patrick Kirby scored our first point, but Monaleen plundered another two goals and a point to lead by 3-6 to 0-1 after 15 minutes. There was a brief respite when Patrickswell notched three consecutive points, but Monaleen helped themselves to another goal and two points to establish a 4-8 to 0-4 margin on the 20-minute mark. The ‘Well edged to closing stages of the first half through Patrick Kirby 0-3 and John Kirby to reach the interval fifteen points behind at 4-11 to 0-8.
The rate of scoring in the second half was much slower. Patrickswell narrowly outscored Monaleen with five points in twenty minutes (Patrick Kirby 0-2, John Kirby 0-2 and Cian Gorman). The deficit in the 50th minute was 4-15 to 0-13. Hugh Maher’s consolation goal and Patrick Kirby’s point made the result a 4-18 to 1-14 reverse. The final group match is against Cappamore on Tuesday November 21 at 7.30pm.
ALL STARS: Patrickswell GAA Club were delighted when Aaron Gillane won a richly deserved Hurler of the Year Award and an All-Star. Similarly, we offer our congratulations to Diarmaid Byrnes for collecting yet another All-Star. As a small club, Patrickswell is proud to have three consecutive Hurler of the Year awards in 2021, 2022 and 2023.
CLUB LOTTO: The Club Lotto draw on Monday November 13 was not won. The numbers drawn were 1, 4, 16 and 13. The bonus number was 14. The €100 Lucky Dip was won by Jim Mulqueen and the €20 prizes were claimed by Christine Hennessy, Niall O’Connor, Evan Fitzgerald, Aidan Dwyer and Pat Glynn. This week’s jackpot is €5,600.
