UNDER 21 HURLERS: The U-21 hurlers produced a brave performance during a narrow defeat to Bruff. Josh Carey scored a point within thirty seconds and the teams were level at 0-3 apiece after ten minutes when Patrick Kirby added a brace. While Patrick Kirby put Patrickswell ahead, we did not score for another fifteen minutes as Bruff notched a goal and three points. Patrick Kirby stemmed the tide with a 25th minute point to make the scoreline 1-6 to 0-5. Bruff rounded off the first half with three consecutive points to lead by 1-9 to 0-5 at the interval.

In the first ten minutes of the second half  Patrickswell closed the gap to five points at 1-11 to 0-9 (Patrick Kirby 0-3 and Josh Carey). John Kirby’s point then clipped the arrears to four points. Immediately afterwards, Bruff took a quick sideline ball that caught Patrickswell unawares and resulted in a devastating goal. There were fifteen minutes left and our opponents led by 2-11 to 0-10. While Patrick Kirby claimed five points in the final quarter  Bruff responded with three points and won out by 2-14 to 0-15.
