UNDER 19 HURLERS: Patrickswell lost their opening match of the U-19 Championship away to Askeaton. The ‘Well started brightly and built a 1-4 to 0-4 lead within ten minutes (Dayle McDonagh goal, Billy Earls 0-3, Liam Fitzgerald). The hosts then dominated for a short spell to establish a 1-10 to 1-7 lead by the 20th minute. Patrickswell were now under pressure and trailed further by 2-13 to 1-9 at the break.
Dayle McDonagh scored his second goal at the start of the half. The teams were cancelling each other out, so Askeaton remained 2-17 to 2-10 ahead by the 38th minute. Any hopes of a recovery were dashed by five consecutive points in five minutes. The teams entered the final quarter at 2-22 to 2-10. The rate of scoring ebbed over the next ten minutes as Askeaton led by 2-25 to 2-13. Unfortunately for Patrickswell, the home team notched two goals and a point in the closing stages to cement a 4-26 to 2-13 win.
FUNDRAISER: Patrickswell’s Senior hurlers, in association with Milford Care Centre, are currently selling chocolate bars with Golden Tickets inside for €5. Milford Care Centre will receive 50% of the proceeds. If you get a golden ticket, you are in for a prize. The top prize is €500 cash, with other prizes to be announced. Prize winners will be revealed in Punch’s Bar on August 12.
CLUB LOTTO: The Club Lotto draw on Monday July 10 was not won. The numbers drawn were 4, 25, 27 and 31. The bonus number was 26. The €100 Lucky Dip was won by Betty Cronin and the €20 prizes were claimed by Theresa, Denis, Luke & Paul, Margaret Manswell, Mary Bagnell, Helen O’Riordan and Marie Kenny. This week’s jackpot is €6,600.
