UNDER 21 HURLERS: The U-21 hurlers bowed out of the Premier Championship after two matches in four days. Against Na Piarsaigh, the game was finely balanced at 0-4 apiece after fifteen minutes. Patrickswell were ahead by 1-6 to 0-6 at the break. Na Piarsaigh clawed their way back into the contest and the scores were level once again at 1-11 apiece with fifteen minutes to play. Unfortunately the Caherdavin men shaded the final quarter and won by 2-15 to 1-14.

In the last pool match against Ballybrown, Patrickswell found themselves three points adrift after just two minutes. By the 10th minute, Patrick Kirby had slashed the deficit to 0-4 to 0-3. Our neighbours steamed ahead with an unanswered goal and three more points before Cian O’Gorman registered a point. The ‘Well trailed by 1-7 to 0-4 after twenty minutes. Ballybrown scored another three points without reply, but Patrickswell had the better of the closing exchanges to trail by 1-12 to 0-8 at half-time.

Both teams exchanged a trio of points in the first ten minutes of the second half (Patrick Kirby 0-2 and Cian O’Gorman). When Ballybrown struck another three points, John Kirby popped up with a goal. There were fifteen minutes left and we trailed by 1-18 to 1-11. There was no late comeback and our neighbours ran out 1-23 to 1-13 winners.

The €100 Lucky Dip was won by Patsy Kiely and the €20 prizes were claimed by The Boys, Martin O’Dea, Mike, Killian & Mikey Gavin, Kevin Holland and Pat Davoren. This week’s jackpot is €19,800.
