SENIOR HURLERS:  The Senior hurlers had a busy week as they faced Kildimo-Pallaskenry and Ballybrown across three days. In the match against Kildimo-Pallaskenry at home, the visitors scored the opening point. Patrickswell responded with a quartet of points from Jack Kelleher (0-2), Jason Gillane and Kevin O’Brien to establish a 0-4 to 0-1 lead after ten minutes. Kildimo-Pallaskenry increased their tempo and produced 1-2 without reply in a short three-minute burst. Josh Considine stemmed the tide with a point, but it was cancelled out within a minute. By the 20th minute, the ‘Well were 1-4 to 0-5 behind. There was no panic and the hosts took the lead with three consecutive points from Darragh Ahern, Jason Gillane amd Jack Kelleher. Kildimo-Pallaskenry mustered the next point to draw level at 0-8 to 1-5. However, Patrickswell’s attacking style was rewarded with a further flurry of three points from Cian Fitzgerald and Jack Kelleher (0-2). During injury time in the first half, the visitors pulled a point back, but Jack Kelleher’s free built a 0-12 to 1-6 interval advantage.

The second half was barely one minute old when Kevin O’Brien rattled the net with a goal. Jack Kelleher tacked on two more frees to cement an eight-point lead of 1-14 to 1-6. Kildimo-Pallaskenry’s first point of the second half was submerged by a four-point salvo in two minutes from Jason Gillane (0-2), Jack Kelleher and Jamie Dillon. By the 40th minute, the home team were cruising at 1-18 to 1-7 ahead. Our opponents secured two points, but they were forced back by five unanswered points for Jack Kelleher (0-2), Jason Gillane, Kevin O’Brien and Darragh Ahern. There were ten minutes left in the match and the ‘Well were leading by 1-23 to 1-9. Over the next ten minutes, the visitors were in charge and scored 1-3 to Jack Kelleher’s point. As the fixture entered stoppage time, Patrickswell were 1-24 to 2-12 ahead. There was still time for Darragh Ahern to score a superb goal into the top corner and Jack Kelleher to score two points, thus bringing his personal tally to 0-14 for the evening.  The final result was a resounding 2-26 to 1-13 victory.

On a gloomy evening in Clarina, Patrickswell visited neighbours Ballybrown. Jack Kelleher put the ‘Well on the scoreboard with a point in the first minute. While Ballybrown responded with two points, Jason Gillane equalised in the 10th minutes. The hosts experienced a purple patch that yielded 1-4 without reply in just four short minutes. Jack Kelleher’s free halted the onslaught, but Ballybrown’s next point opened up a 1-7 to 0-3 gap in the 20th minute. The next surge was from Patrickswell as Jack Kelleher (0-2), Calvin Carroll and Jason Gillane trimmed the arrears to a single goal. The closing stages of the first half witnessed an exchange of two points apiece from Patrickswell (Jack Kelleher and Thomas O’Brien) and Ballybrown. The half-time score was 1-9 to 0-9 for the Clarina men.

In the first minute of the second half, a slick passing movement from Patrickswell was rewarded with an equalising goal from Jack Kelleher. Ballybrown nudged ahead by a point, but two rapid points from Jack Kelleher and Cian Fitzgerald put the ‘Well ahead by 1-11 to 1-10. In the space of the next six minutes, both sides swapped four points as Patrickswell kept its slim 1-15 to 1-14 lead. Afterwards the home team pressed forward and scored 1-3 in a significant seven-minute spell in which Patrickswell failed to register. By the 52nd minute, Patrickswell trailed by 2-17 to 1-15. Jack Kelleher’s two frees were cancelled out by Ballybrown as Patrickswell were kept at arms’ length. There was five minutes left on the clock and the ‘Well remained 2-19 to 1-17 behind. Jack Kelleher produced another two frees to slash the deficit to a single goal. There was a grandstand finale in store, but Ballybrown absorbed the pressure and secured two insurance points, despite a Josh Considine point. The final score was a 2-21 to 1-20 defeat.

The Senior hurlers are scheduled to meet Monaleen on Friday 9 July at 8pm in Patrickswell.

INTERMEDIATE HURLERS: The Intermediate hurlers are pencilled in to meet St. Patricks on Saturday 10 July at 7.30pm in Patrickswell.

JUNIOR B HURLERS: The Junior B hurlers are scheduled to meet Croagh-Kilfinny on Wednesday July 7 at 7.30pm at home. On Sunday July 11, they will travel to Askeaton at 7.30pm

LIMERICK HURLERS: Congratulations to the Limerick hurlers and their Patrickswell contingent for their victory over Cork in the Munster Championship.
