UNDER 20 HURLERS: The U-20 hurlers bowed out of the County Championship after a defeat to Adare. The first fifteen minutes were tightly fought as Adare built a 1-3 to 1-2 lead. Dayle McDonagh scored the Patrickswell goal and added a point to Liam Fitzgerald’s opener. The next five minutes were dominated by Adare, whose five points outshone a sole Patrickswell point. The scoreline after twenty minutes was a deficit of 1-8 to 1-3. However  Patrickswell surprised Adare with a salvo of two goals from Harry McDonagh and Alan Fitzgerald and a brace of points from Billy Earls. In that spell, Adare failed to score and Patrickswell reached half-time at 3-5 to 1-8 ahead.

The second half started badly for Patrickswell as Adare scored their second goal and two points within five minutes. Thankfully, Dayle McDonagh and Christy Carroll’s points put Patrickswell level at 3-7 to 2-10 in the 35th minute. Adare struck two more points, but Paddy McGrath’s goal saw Patrickswell lead narrowly by 4-7 to 2-12 in the 40th minute. The epic finish did not materialise and Adare cruised to victory by scoring ten points in contrast to Dayle McDonagh’s sole point. The final score was 2-22 to 4-8.
